- Documentary letter of credit is essentially the obligation of a buyer’s bank and the confirming bank (in case of confirmed letter of credit) to pay to a seller (“beneficiary”) a certain amount of money against presentation of the documents stipulated by the terms of the letter of credit within specified time limits;
- Due to documentary letter of credit beneficiary does not depend on solvency of the buyer and its readiness to pay and just after shipment of goods can receive payment having presented the documents stipulated by the terms of the letter of credit to the nominated bank.
